AT&T Streaming Video Services

AT&T Streaming Video Services is a one-way broadcast communication of a videoconference call over the Internet.  It allows participants with a PC or laptop and an Internet connection to see and hear the presenter(s) along with presentation slides as an option.  Streaming events may be live and/or archived.  This service is an add-on feature to AT&T’s Video Conferencing Service.

AT&T Streaming Video Service is summarized as follows:

Ø      One-way broadcast of a single presenter or multiple presenters

Ø      Video and audio signals synchronized within the same stream

Ø       Two options available for streaming over the Internet:

o        Live – everyone views the event simultaneously (with archive avail. for 90 days)

o        On-Demand (archive only) – event digitally encoded and stored for future viewing

Ø      Users may upload and push presentation slides as part of the stream (optional)

Ø      Interactive capabilities available include:

o        Voting/Polling

o        Audio participants for live interaction

o        Display of email questions and answers

Ø      Add-on feature of AT&T’s Video Conferencing Service

Common Applications include the following:

Ø      Training and Distance Learning

Ø      Company Announcements

Ø      New Product/Service demonstrations and launches

Ø      Focus Groups/Market Research

Ø      Large Events including seminars and tradeshows

Ø      Executive broadcasts and quarterly meetings

Ø      Investor relations and earnings announcements

Ø      Crisis communications

Ø      Reach remote sites that do not have videoconferencing equipment

Videoconferencing vs. Streaming – When to use which service?

Ø       Videoconferencing – use as an option for:

o        Interactive sessions with multiple speakers

o        Relatively smaller number of participating sites

Ø       Streaming Video – use as an option for:

o        ‘Broadcast-like’ presentations with fewer presenters

o        Larger number of participants and who are geographically-dispersed

o        Sessions that need to be archived for future retrieval at anytime, from anywhere

In many cases, an event may include a combination of a videoconference involving several locations and a stream of that conference to a much larger number of participants or viewers.

AIG Requirements

Service Options

Add Event Management Services and other bridging features to enhance the Streaming experience.

Event Management Services  - offers coordination and assistance with high-profile or special events.  AT&T assigns a single point of contact to pull all the details together to customize production solutions for even the most complex events which may include, but is not limited to, the following:  Consultation, Event Preparation, Production, and Follow-up.

Satellite Downlink Connection - allows AT&T to receive a satellite broadcast signal and then re-broadcast to all video sites connected to an AT&T bridged videoconference call, and/or to participants as part of a streaming event.

Dedicated Conference Producer – when this option is selected a Conference Producer is assigned and dedicated to the individual videoconference to manage the call set-up, monitor the bridge activity and provide assistance during the conference.  With the In-call monitoring option the Conference Producer remains on the live call to monitor audio and video quality.  Any problems and/or special requests are addressed in real-time.  With the Standby monitoring option the Conference Producer exits the live conference and monitors bridge diagnostics only.  A direct phone extension to the Conference Producer is provided for immediate access.

Conference Recording – simply record the videoconference and output to either videotape (VHS) or CD-ROM.  Additional copies are also available upon request.
